VIDEO: Firefighters, with the help of a firewall, saved a town of Plover home Thursday. A USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin reporter on the scene about 4:30 p.m. said flames and smoke were engulfing a garage close to a residence at 1235 Meehan Ave., town of Plover. The end of the garage nearest the home had a firewall because it was about 3 feet from the home, Plover Fire Chief Mark Deaver said. The wall slowed the fire enough for firefighters to arrive before the flames spread to the home, Deaver said. The fire did damage a small amount of siding and a small part of the home's roof but did not spread inside, Deaver said. The garage was a total loss, he said.
