The West Virginia state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of a minor basement fire Saturday night in the Breckenridge development, an Independent Fire Co. official said.
Firefighters were dispatched at 7:20 p.m. Saturday to the 300 block of Pommel Lane for a basement fire called in by a neighbor, said Matt Rovelli, Independent's safety officer.
Upon arrival there was a report of people trapped in the basement, but that was not the case, Rovelli said.
Firefighters extinguished a small fire they found in the basement, he said.
