When the Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department arrived early Tuesday afternoon, it seemed like a minor fire, with smoke showing.
But that changed in an instant.
"Upon arrival, there was confirmed smoke showing, but no flames," said Wes Buckley, Assistant Chief, Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department. "We checked the trailer out, and during the time we were doing our investigation, the trailer had an explosion."
An explosion that sent one firefighter to the hospital with what we were told were non-life threatening injuries.
A second department, Blennerhassett, was sent to the scene. Firefighting foam was applied to bring what by then had become an even bigger fire under control.
It happened at Foamcoat Roofing on Staunton Turnpike, Route 47.
