Charles Town man charged with arson

A Charles Town homeowner is being charged with first-degree arson after allegedly admitting to starting a fire in his home, according to Jefferson County Magistrate Court records. Drew Tyler Springirth, 39, is incarcerated at the Eastern Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond, according to jail records Monday afternoon. Fire crews were called on the evening of July 28 to 386 Pommel Lane, located in the Breckenridge residential community, for a fire at the home, records said. At approximately 7:27 p.m., Sgt. B Conway with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the home after firefighters requested the police department to investigate, court records said.
