Martinsburg officials confirmed that City Fire Department Chief Paul Bragg has resigned his post, effective Monday, but provided no explanation as to why he decided to step down.
“Chief Paul Bragg has resigned his position as the Fire Chief for the City of Martinsburg Fire Department, effective December 10, 2018,” said Martinsburg legal counsel Kin Sayre in an email released Tuesday.
City officials declined to respond to email queries on Bragg’s departure
Messages left on Bragg’s home telephone were not immediately returned.
Brag had served as Martinsburg fire chief since September 2001.
According to Sayre, Martinsburg City manager Mark Baldwin and the Fire Department’s three fire captains will manage the department’s day-to-day operations until a new fire chief is selected.
