Fairmont firefighters worked to knock down flames spreading through rooms at the Country Club Motor Lodge on Locust Avenue, late Thursday. The fire broke out around 11:15 p.m. According to firefighters on scene, it broke out in the corner area on the second floor. At this time, they don't know what caused the blaze. Fire burned through four rooms. People were inside the building when the fire broke out but everyone was out safely before fire crews arrived. All off-duty fire personnel was called back for the safety of the fires because of the heat and humidity. Everyone was safe. No injuries were reported. The State Fire Marshal's Office will be called in to investigate because it is a commercial building. Firefighters say it's too early to tell if it's suspicious. The Fairmont Fire Department, Fairmont Police and the Marion County Rescue Squad were on scene.
