A grant to the Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Department has enabled the agency to purchase extrication equipment. The department received $7,000 from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation for the purchase of a combi-tool for the rescue division. The device was delivered on Monday and put into service on Unit 13, said Tyler D. White, a captain and paramedic on the fire department.
The addition replaces similar equipment that is about 30 years old. It is used to spread or cut metal from a vehicle to extricate victims.
The unit will replace two larger tools that will save room and time, White said.
Firefighters will undergo training on Aug. 25 at the racetrack in Pennsboro.
