Area firefighters battled two commercial structures fire in a 28-hour period last week.
On Thursday, the Buckhannon Fire Department responded to a fire call at 3:36 p.m. at SEFPRO/Corhart. They were paged out along with Warren District, Adrian and Ellamore volunteer fire departments and Washington District Volunteer Fire Company, according to BFD chief J.B. Kimble.
Because it was a commercial structure fire, Weston and Elkins fire departments also responded.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a working fire inside a contained commercial dryer, which is about the size of a room, according to Kimble.
The commercial dryer was used to dry the product made at the Corhart location.
The BFD has done pre-planning with large structures in Buckhannon and had plans in place for what to do in case of a fire or emergency at SEFPRO.
That starts with the fire chief arriving on scene and meeting with the plant director.
The size of Corhart makes it a challenge, according to Kimble.
