The Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Department received a grant that will help it handle accidents on Route 50. The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation awarded $7,000 to the fire department for the purchase of a combi tool for its rescue division. The new tool replaces equipment that is more than 30 years old. Firefighters said this tool will help in handling potential well and oil and gas accidents. "Especially since we do Route 50 and it also helps us if we have an incident on a pipeline. We have it on our smaller four-wheel drive apparatus," said Tyler White, captain. The department added this one small tool takes the place of two larger tools and saves room and time.
