As a member of the Hurricane Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years, Tim Spradling has responded to thousands of calls.
The ones he will always remember are where he saved a life.
A few years ago he responded to a call where a woman was unconscious and unresponsive.
"We were able to do CPR and get her back, and it was amazing to be able to save somebody that probably didn't have a chance," Spradling said.
The need for volunteer firefighters such as Spradling continues to plague departments across the nation. To help with their situation, the Hurricane Volunteer Fire Department is in the midst of a volunteer recruitment campaign, using billboards to advertise.
"The amount of people we have on the roster versus the amount of people we're getting for calls, yeah that's hard," Chief Rob Savage said.
