South Charleston Fire Department will now be able to purchase some needed equipment needed to better serve the community.
At Thursday night's City Council meeting, members decided to pass the proposed funding to the Fire Department, which will mostly go toward new trucks.
According to South Charleston's Fire Chief Virgil White, they need to keep purchasing newer vehicles due to the hard use over the thousands of emergency runs they make yearly.
White tells WSAZ, "By upgrading these vehicles to newer vehicles it makes it a lot safer, it's more economical and just more practical."
