A local church and Parkersburg Fire Department are teaming up this weekend to make certain more homes have smoke alarms. Parkersburg Fire Department and Trinity Episcopal Church will go door to door Saturday as part of a smoke alarm neighborhood sweep.
The groups will be installing smoke detectors for qualified homeowners and providing educational materials.
Smoke detectors are extremely vital in protecting homes and families from fire.
"When we go into people's homes and put these up, we usually put up about three to five, so we'll have, we can be in over 100 houses this weekend if people are home and available to do that," Matthews said.
