One killed, dozen injured after car crashes into Sophia Bingo Hall

One person was killed and a dozen injured Thursday after car crashed into Bingo hall in Raleigh County. Linda Keen, died after a vehicle driven by Peggy Griffin crashed through the wall of the building and hit Keen and some of the other patrons inside, according to a news release from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office. Raleigh County Sheriff Scott Van Meter told The Register-Herald the vehicle hit the Sophia Bingo Hall about 9:30 p.m. Sophia City Assistant Fire Chief Scott Thomas said the injuries to 12 others ranged from minor to critical. The sheriff’s office said in a news release that Griffin attempted to pull onto Main Street toward Beckley when it was struck by another vehicle traveling toward Tams, a community in Raleigh County.
