The Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department joined at least five other fire departments in the area for a training session at Chapmanville High School on Sunday. The training is mandatory for firefighters to become certified, but this is the first time the live burn has been held in Chapmanville. The trailer burn was a simulation of house or trailer fires. The firefighters also participated in training activities involving propane and liquid fires. The fire departments do have safety measures in place if a fire were to get out of hand during training.
