A Marion County man has been arrested after deputies said he set fire to his own home.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Department said they responded to the home of Chad Moore, 46, of Fairmont, on Sunday, January 6 and found him walking down the road a short distance away from the home. According to deputies, Moore was detained at the time and freely told deputes that he had set fire to his home because he was being held captive from intruders that ran out of the home when he set the stairs on fire, deputies said.
According to deputies, witness statements were obtained that stated that there were no people who left the home during their encounter with Moore. Once the house fire was extinguished, deputies said they checked the home for anyone still inside and found no one. Moore was taken to the hospital to be checked for possible injury, according to deputies.
