Illinois Fire Service Institute to host a Veterans in the Fire Service Day

November 10, 2018

The Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) is pleased to announce that on 10 November we will host the inaugural Veterans in the Fire Service Day: An Opportunity for Firefighters Past, Present, and Future. This unique personal and professional development opportunity is for US Armed Forces Veterans who have also served, are serving, or may be interested in serving as a member of the fire service. During the program, attendees will learn about the culture, community, and career opportunities in the fire service. As part of the experience, attendees will also engage in multiple hands-on, live fire training scenarios customized for the skill level. The goal of the interactive delivery is to provide exposure and create familiarity and comfort with essential firefighting skills. Also in attendance during the IFSI Veterans in the Fire Service Day will be US Veterans currently working in the fire service industry. They will also complete a series of unique and aggressive firefighting challenges. During the afternoon sessions, the two experience levels will join and work cooperatively as members of a fireground company while executing multiple live fire training evolutions. This truly is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for networking and skill development for all attendees. The event is no cost to students. Registration closes on Wednesday, November 7.
