The City of Kaukauna, WI (pop. 15,000+) is seeking a progressive, energetic leader who communicates openly and focuses on continuous improvement to serve as Fire Chief.

The Fire Chief is responsible to lead a team of professionals while delivering quality professional services including protecting lives and property from fire and harm through emergency and non-emergency services, education, code enforcement and overall direction of the operations of a paramedic level ambulance service.

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of developing collaborative relationships internally and externally. A strong core value system and an emphasis on teamwork, respect, and innovation are essential characteristics sought for this position. It is also responsible for fostering internal and external relationships and for the mentoring/coaching of command staff. This position requires ten years of full-time experience in firefighting, fire prevention and emergency/rescue operations, five years of full-time experience in a supervisory capacity, an associate degree in fire science is required with a Bachelor’s Degree in fire administration, public administration or related field or Master’s Degree preferred.

The salary range for this position is $88,000 to $103,000, plus a competitive fringe benefit package which includes medical, dental, and life insurance; vacation, sick, and holiday pay; and includes a Residency Incentive Program. In addition, City of Kaukauna employees participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) and have the option to participate in the City’s 457 Deferred Compensation Program.
