If you're looking to lower the cost of your college education, serve a community and save lives, the Southern Maine Community College Public Safety Student Live-in Program is for you! Here's are some program essentials:
1) Dear Prospective Student Live-in Applicant introduces you to the live-in program, a partnership of SMCC and 16 Southern Maine communities offering more than 90 student live-in assignments in busy, progressive fire-EMS agencies.
2) The Live-in Program 1-sheet will give you general info. Whether you want to earn a certificate or degree in Fire Science, Paramedicine, Criminal Justice or one of the 40 other degree programs @ SMCC, you can serve as a live-in student as long as you attend college full time (at least 12 credits per semester), complete Firefighter 1+2 and EMT training and meet your live-in station obligations. Live-in students live at no charge at their station and serve as paid-on-call fire-EMS members.
3) Application for placement in the Live-in program. Application deadline is 5/15/19 @ 1700 hours for the first round of live-in placements for fall, 2019.
4) 2019 Selection and Training Schedule : We take an aggressive approach to getting our live-in students trained up and responding to emergency calls.
We look forward to hearing from you!
