The City of Santa Rosa is recruiting for the exciting and challenging position of Firefighter - Paramedic.  This recruitment is being conducted to establish an eligibility list to fill current and future Firefighter - Paramedic vacancies within the Santa Rosa Fire Department.  Firefighter - Paramedics serve the public by performing fire suppression, prevention, and rescue activities while protecting life, property and the environment; providing basic and advanced life support medical care and treatment; and performing fire prevention duties.

The Santa Rosa Fire Department (SRFD) responds to over 27,000 incidents per year, operating out of 10 fire stations. SRFD staffs ten (10) paramedic engine companies and two (2) paramedic truck companies. SRFD is looking for candidates who are highly motivated, hardworking, honest, forward thinking, mechanically inclined, problem solvers and who are used to working in a team environment.

Firefighter - Paramedics are expected to successfully complete a comprehensive firefighter training program.  Firefighter - Paramedics are also expected to perform the full range of fire suppression, safety and prevention duties on an in-service training basis and to learn and perform journey-level skills in all areas of work assigned. 

Qualification requirements:

  • Be on the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Statewide Eligibility List (SEL); Applicants must be active on FCTC's SEL. Applicants must have a passing score on the FCTC Written Test between June 12, 2018 and the final application filing date of June 12, 2019 and a FCTC Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) issue date on or after May 31, 2018. Information on these tests can be obtained at www.fctconline.org 
  • Possess a Firefighter I Certificate issued by the California State Fire Marshal or successful completion of a California State Fire Marshal approved Firefighter I Academy
  • Possess and maintain a State of California EMT-P (Paramedic) License with the ability to obtain and maintain Coastal Valleys Emergency Medical Services Agency (CVEMSA) accreditation
  • Possess a valid California Class C driver's license with the ability to obtain and maintain a DMV Health Questionnaire and Firefighter Endorsement by the end of probation
