The Board of Directors of Williams Rural Fire Protection District is currently offering a unique professional opportunity for an experienced and innovative professional to lead our department as the Fire Chief. The Fire Chief is supported by one part time administrative assistant and 12 volunteers in the delivery of EMS, fire suppression, hazmat response, public education, and strong public relations.
The community of Williams is located in Josephine County. A small community in the heart of Southern Oregon wine country. Williams is surrounded by forested mountains in the beautiful Applegate Valley. Home to approximately 3000 residents. Williams Fire District protects approximately 37 square miles. The area offers hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, boating, and other recreational opportunities. Local businesses include cottage industries, timber products, agriculture, real estate, and tourism.
The Fire Chief must establish primary residence within 30 minutes of the fire station within 180 days of employment.

Education and Experience:
• Minimum 10 years of increasingly more responsible experience with at least five years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Associates degree with formal coursework in fire science, fire service technology, public administration or related field.
• Experience working with a volunteer or combination department.
• Executive Fire Officer Certification desirable.
• Haz Mat Incident Commander.
• EMT advanced/intermediate, Paramedic preferred.
• NFPA FF II
• NFPA Fire Officer I
• Wildland certifications to at least Engine Boss level.
• NIMS 100, 200, 300, 700, 800
