Located 30 minutes from the Las Vegas airport, Boulder City is a delightful and unique desert town located in the southern tip of Nevada. Boulder City enjoys a distinctive heritage, with its roots beginning with the implementation of one of the most significant public works projects of our time, the Boulder Canyon Project, a monumental federal undertaking resulting in the construction of Hoover Dam. The City of Boulder City is seeking a strong leader with vision and creativity to serve as the new Fire Chief. Qualified candidates will possess knowledge and a level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, as well as experience, including emergency management experience, sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require five (5) to eight (8) years of related experience. Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483. Possession of requirements set forth in the Nevada State Fire Marshal's Office and/or NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Standards, including: NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Professional Qualifications – Fire Officer IV, NFPA Executive Fire Officer Program Certification, and National Incident Management System Certification – NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800.
