Marin County’s oldest city, San Rafael (population over 59,000) lies midway between San Francisco and California's famous wine country. San Rafael serves as the county seat and Marin's central city. The San Rafael Fire Department is an organization with 90 professionals trained in specialties including emergency medical care, firefighting, hazardous materials and emergency preparedness. Under policy direction of the City Manager, the Fire Chief provides management to all Fire Department divisions and programs and ensures the safety, health and wellbeing of individuals and property through a comprehensive range of programs. The City of San Rafael is seeking a strong leader and experienced fire management professional to serve as its new Fire Chief. Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Fire Safety Operations Management, Public Administration, or related field, and have eight (8) years of recent responsible fire service management, administrative, and operations experience  including three (3) years at the rank of Battalion Chief or higher.  Candidates must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
