The Weiser Ambulance District Board is seeking an experienced EMS professional to fill the position of EMS Director.

The EMS Director works as the general manager of the Ambulance District.  The Director reports to the Weiser Ambulance District Board.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and, with the approval of the Ambulance District Board, may be tailored to fit the Director’s preference.

Weiser Ambulance District operates an advanced life support service in and around Weiser located in Washington County, Idaho.  One ambulance is staffed with an on-duty crew, including at least one Paramedic.  A second ambulance is staffed with an on-call crew.  Most patients are transported to Weiser Memorial Hospital in Weiser.  Weiser Ambulance also performs interfacility transfers from Weiser Memorial to hospitals in the Boise area.

Weiser Ambulance District responded to 1243 calls for service during the 2019, including interfacility transfers.

The Director is paid $65,000 to $80,000 (depending on duties) per year.  (Currently the interim director works 16 to 20 hours per week fulfilling management duties).  Additional Director duties include work on the on-duty ambulance crew from time-to-time.  The Director will also work in an on-call basis to cover the backup ambulance.  Full-time benefits, insurance and PERSI are included. 

The duties of this position require the Director to live within 15 minutes of Weiser.

This position will remain open until filled by the Weiser Ambulance District Board.

Washington County is in Western Idaho along the Idaho-Oregon border.  Weiser is the largest city in Washington County with a population of about 5,500. Washington County has a population of about 10,000.  Washington is a rural county, with lots of open space.  Weiser is located at the confluence of the Weiser and Snake Rivers.  The terrain includes agricultural ground on the valley floor, surrounded by high desert, sage covered hills.  The Payette National Forest is only a few minutes away, as well as the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area.  Brownlee, Oxbow and Hells Canyon Reservoirs are nearby.  There is abundant outdoor recreation available in the area, including hunting, hiking, backpacking, river rafting, fishing, skiing and many opportunities for ATV and motorcycle riding.

Highway 95 is the major North-South highway route in Idaho and runs through Weiser.  Interstate 84 is a few miles to the west in Eastern Oregon.  The Boise metropolitan area is about an hour to the south.

Weiser is a quiet, slowly-growing community with friendly people.
