Lyons Fire Protection District
Location: Lyons, CO
The Town of Lyons is a small town with big character, nestled in the foothills of Boulder County, Colorado. It is located at the confluence of North and South St. Vrain Creek, 20 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. Because of this location, it is sometimes referred to as "The Double Gateway to the Rockies."
The Lyons FPD response area is approximately 70 square miles, and includes the Town of Lyons, and unincorporated areas of Boulder County and Larimer County. The FPD responds from two stations. Station 1 is located within the Town of Lyons, and Station 2 is located about 10 minutes to the northwest, on Larimer County Road 37E. The District is staffed by local volunteers and three paid firefighters, plus the Chief and a part-time Admin Assistant.
The Fire Chief is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, supervision, and evaluation of all fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, fire safety inspections, and prevention activities such as public education, provided by the District; and the oversight of all operations and administration of the Fire District including the purchase of additional firefighting apparatus and equipment, the hiring or termination of personnel, and managing the District’s budget. Salary Range: $95,000–$110,000 with a great benefits package. Salary is negotiable and dependent upon experience/qualifications. Also includes an excellent benefits package.
