The Big Bear Fire Department is recruiting for the classification of Ambulance Operator- Paramedic.  Under the direction of a Company Officer, the Ambulance Operators will respond to medical aids, rescues, and other emergency and non-emergency incidents as required. Career Advancement Opportunities: This position will have the opportunity to test for all promotional opportunities within the Big Bear Fire Department. Possible promotional opportunities consist of reclassification from Ambulance Operator-Paramedic to, Firefighter Paramedic and Flight Paramedic.  All job qualifications and requirements must be met prior testing for promotion.

All employees of the Big Bear Fire Department are enrolled in San Bernardino County Employee’s Retirement Association (SBCERA) retirement system, accompanied by fully covered health, vision, and dental benefits.  The Ambulance Operator-Paramedic average annual salary is $51,188 - $65,885 while working a 48/96 shift schedule, which includes hours over 40 per week paid at an overtime rate. Annual salary will be determined based on qualifications.
