The City of Glendale, CA invites you to apply to be the next Fire Chief for the 4th largest city in Los Angeles County! The City of Glendale (population 196,543) is a charter city, which operates under a Council-Manager form of government.
Under the administrative direction of the City Manager, the Fire Chief oversees and directs the activities of the seven sections within the Department which include Administration, Operations, Emergency Medical Services, Training & Safety, Fire Prevention & Environmental Management Center, Support Services/Emergency Management, and Verdugo Fire Communications Center.
The City is seeking a strategic leader with technical expertise, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills who will be actively engaged in the Glendale community to join the high-performing Executive Team. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration or a related field. In addition, candidates must have ten years of experience in fire and emergency operations in a supervisory capacity, including seven years permanent status as a Chief Officer such as Battalion Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief or higher in an organized Fire Department providing fire protection of the municipal type. A Master’s Degree in Public Administration or a related field, as well as certification by CSFM or the State Fire Marshal’s Office as Chief Officer or graduation from the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program are desirable.
The annual salary range for the Fire Chief is $188,293-$255,515. The City also offers an attractive benefits package.
