Full-Time Firefighter-EMT: 3 Positions Available
The Firefighter-EMT position requires work which includes responding to and dealing with emergency situations and natural conditions that pose a threat to life and property. Firefighters perform duties in the following areas: Firefighting of all types including but not limited to structural, vehicle and marine; general rescue, light and heavy extrication; emergency medical technician duties and activities; hazmat response and mitigation, maintenance, inspections, testing, and minor repairs of fire and EMS apparatus, equipment, and fire facilities; fire prevention programs such as code enforcement, public education, public relations and fire investigations; training activities and skills maintenance; and maintenance of quarters in accordance with Department policies and procedures. Firefighters work under the direction of a commanding officer.

To apply for the position you are required to submit the following: a completed City of Burlington application for employment, resume, cover letter, copies of applicable certificates, and valid CPAT. Complete application packets must be submitted in a sealed envelope via mail, or in-person to Burlington City Hall, ATTN: Human Resources Department, 833 S. Spruce St., Burlington, WA 98233 or emailed to kristenm@burlingtonwa.gov, no later than close of business, 5:00 p.m. PST on June 7, 2022 OR until the maximum number of 50 applications have been received. Written test will be scheduled for June 10, 2022; candidates must be available for testing on that date. Upon notification by the Burlington Civil Service Examiner you will be asked to complete and return the Personal History Information (PHI) form. Do not fill out the PHI form until notified of instructions by the Civil Service Examiner.
