Vancouver Fire is rapidly expanding, we are opening an eleventh fire station in October 2022 and voters recently approved a PERMANENT tax increase that will fund over FIFTY (50) additional positions plus important station and apparatus upgrades. We’re also adding a third fully staffed truck company and multiple 24/7 squad units over the next few years. VFD’s last Lateral Firefighter academy graduated in May 2022, an Entry Level Firefighter academy starts in July 2022, and the next Lateral Firefighter academy is scheduled to start in March 2023. -FF/Paramedic Salary Range: $97,284-$127,140 depending on experience
-FF/EMT Salary Range: $81,780-$111,636 depending on experience
-Four Platoon schedule, 24-on/72-off, plus 13 annual debit shifts
-Specialty Opportunities: Hazmat, Technical Rescue, and Maritime Teams
LATERAL FIREFIGHTER REQUIREMENTS
• 21 years at application closing date
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• 3 years full time firefighting experience is required
• Firefighter 1 certification or equivalent
• EMT or Paramedic certification (must be eligible for Washington reciprocity)
