Resident Student Volunteer


Crescent Fire District

Location: Crescent, OR

Crescent Fire, located in South Central Oregon, seeks qualified resident volunteers to live in-district, attend Central Oregon Community College while receiving an educational scholarship, living stipend/ college travel reimbursement, and rent-free housing.  Participants will gain real-world experience working with our combination career/ volunteer crews while responding to incidents as first-out responders.  Participants in the program will obtain EMT-B, FF1, Driver/Operator and FFT2 within the first year of the program.  Second year students will complete mobile water supply, apparatus operator equipped with a fire pump and NFPA Instructor 1, while nearing completion of an associate degree in fire science.  Third year students will apply for and complete the COCC Paramedic program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age at time of enrollment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Insurable driving record
  • Enroll at Central Oregon Community College upon program acceptance
  • Maintain 12 credit hours per term
