Are you a seasoned fire safety and code enforcement inspector who is looking for a change of pace, but still want to remain in the fire and life prevention field? Are you passionate about directly enhancing the safety of some of Oregon’s most critical sites and at-risk populations? Then the Life Safety Code Surveyor may be the position for you.
Under the direction of the Supervising Deputy State Fire Marshal (SDSFM) the Compliance Specialist 3 (Life Safety Code Surveyor), independently, a part of team, or as the lead surveyor, performs sensitive and complex surveys of health facilities to determine the health care facilities’ life safety code compliance with State and federal licensing and certification requirements through the Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Human Services.
The successful candidate evaluates and inspects fire alarm, automatic sprinkler, and emergency power systems and the physical structure, operation, construction and environmental conditions of the health facility, to determine compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, and other State and Federal codes required for participation in the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) programs.
The successful candidate communicates, and interacts with facility staff during the survey process and prepares comprehensive written reports of survey findings including conclusions and recommendations and prepares statement of deficiencies (citations) when appropriate.
