Headquartered in Irvine, California, the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that serves approximately 1.9 million residents in a 586-square mile area, with 188,800 acres of wildland. The OCFA was formed on March 1, 1995, transitioning from the Orange County Fire Department to a JPA. The service area includes 23-member cities and the unincorporated areas of Orange County.
The Information Technology manager is an exceptional opportunity in one of the premier fire agencies in the United States. The IT manager is a key position in the OCFA’s professional management team and works closely with other OCFA section / division managers, operational command staff, and executives to ensure continuous delivery of public safety services. The IT manager, under general direction and reporting to the IT division manager administers short and long-range planning activities, provides complex support and technical expertise, and is responsible for budget administration, program evaluation, application development, and activities of staff in the systems development and the geographic information systems sections of the IT division in the Logistics department of the OCFA.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the development and administration of information technology programs and systems and managing teams of information technology and GIS profession staff and contractors.
- EDUCATION: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management or a related field.
- LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Professional certifications (project management, program management, IT governance, IT security, GIS) are desirable, however not required.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced technology leader who is confident, strong, energetic, assertive, and an ethically sound leader who can provide effective leadership for the assigned sections in the IT division of the Logistics department, be a strong team builder, communicator, and engender loyalty among staff. In addition, the ideal candidate must have a proven track record of proactive, hands-on, IT management experience, and possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and the ability to think ‘out of the box’ to provide solutions to complex issues. The IT manager must have a solid political acumen, be hands-on to support staff, and be open to new ideas.
Annual salary for this position is $109,428 - $173,867 commensurate with education and experience.Base Salary Adjustments
2.30% effective June 28, 2024
2.50% effective June 27, 2025
2.50% effective June 28, 2026
