Thankfully, no one was injured.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday for the 3-alarm fire at Bailey's Camping Resort on Pine Point Road.
The restaurant Seaside Square Cafe is part of the resort. That building was destroyed and investigators are working to learn more Wednesday.
Crews from Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Portland and South Portland responded.
The fire chief says the smoke played a huge role in the fire, requiring ladder trucks to fight it from over the roof.
"The real concern was the exposures. We had a lot of campers backed right up to the side of the building as well as a large amphitheater within five feet of the structure so our efforts were to make sure we didn't lose any of the trailers or the amphitheater,” Scarborough Fire Chief Michael Thurlow said.
