2 firefighters injured in extra-alarm fire in Chicago

VIDEO: Two firefighters were injured while battling a fire on the city’s South Side. The fire started just before 6 a.m. Tuesday on the first-floor of Vincennes Food Mart in the 7900 block of South Vincennes Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood. The building houses a business and apartments. The fire was upgraded to a 3-11 and spread to a second building, according to fire officials. According to fire officials, two firefighters were taken to hospitals with minor injuries. No other injuries have been reported. One building will need to be demolished due to the extensive damage, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation. CTA is rerouting the 8A and 79 buses.
