VIDEO: A Seymour gas station is a total loss after it went up in flames Monday afternoon.
Seymour Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Linsenbigler says crews were called to the scene at the Seymour Speedway Market on Highway 411 just before 12:45 p.m.
Linsenbigler says everyone inside made it out of the business, and no injuries were reported.
Fire crews worked for hours to put out hot spots on scene.
“My boss saw the fire starting. He yelled at one of us to run over there. I took off running… I opened the door and I hollered there was a fire and screamed again, ‘fire,'” said Carl Maner, who works next door.
Maner says at first the fire started out small, then engulfed the building within minutes.
“None of the buried tanks ignited, they shut that off. They had approximately 1,700 gallons of kerosene on the east side of the structure that, we weren’t here 10 minutes, and it blew up,” Linsenbigler said.
