VIDEO: Imagine going to the grocery store, parking your car, getting your shopping done, checking out, loading your groceries and you’re about to drive away and then BAM… there’s a swarm of bees in your backseat. That’s what happened to a Las Cruces man this weekend. According to a post on the Las Cruces Fire Department’s Facebook page, firefighters were called out to a local Albertson’s grocery store after the man found a swarm of bees had taken up temporary residence in his backseat. The man said he was about to drive off when he realized his backseat had been taken over. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they first blocked off the area to protect nearby shoppers before calling in Jesse Johnson. Johnson was not working that day but in his spare time, works as a beekeeper. Johnson arrived on the scene equipped with a hive kit, lemongrass oil, gloves and proper attire and was able to safely relocate the swarm.
