12 injured after explosion at Maryland condo building, officials say

PHOTOS: Twelve people were injured in a Wednesday morning explosion at a Gaithersburg, Md. apartment building, which sits across the street from Brown Station Elementary School, Montgomery County fire officials said. Officials said out of the injured, 10 people were hospitalized, two with critical injuries and eight with mild to moderate injuries. Two others refused treatment on the scene. Some of the injured include four children with minor injuries, said Scott Goldstein, Chief of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. Around 8:40 a.m, dispatchers received multiple calls about an explosion at Quince Orchard Boulevard. Officials said when crews arrived at the scene, 826 Quince Orchard Boulevard showed signs of a significant explosion and structural collapse, prompting additional first responders to be dispatched to the scene.
