PHOTOS: A historic building went up in flames, breaking many hearts for residents in Decker, Indiana.
The fire destroyed the former Decker high school. The old Decker school holds many memories to the community.
"We used to roll, skate, jump rope, hopscotch, and play in the trees. There's still one tree left over there that we used to play on," said Decker resident Yolanda Lane.
According to people in the community, the building used to be a high school until 1967 and served as an elementary school until 1999. Now, it's being used as a sawmill.
Yolanda Lane was saddened to learn her old school was damaged so severely. "I grew up here. It's part of my history. I hate to see part of my history disappear," said Lane.
