No injuries were reported in an apartment building fire in the Kalifornsky Beach area Monday evening. Central Emergency Services doused a fire in a four-plex building on Cork Line Drive, just off Kalifornsky Beach Road near the Albatross bar. The first fire engine arrived at 8:17 p.m. and found “heavy fire” in an attached shop spreading to three apartment units, said CES Chief Roy Browning in an email. “Fire crews were able to make entry into the apartments and extinguish the fire,” he said. The Kenai Fire Department also sent a tanker to help. A total of 24 firefighters responded in two engines, three water tankers and a medic unit. Though the building was occupied at the time of the fire, everyone was out by the time the fire department arrived, Browning said.
