A home went up in flames Monday morning, and the fire caused the building to collapse before fire fighters could begin extinguishing efforts on the blaze.
According to Ernie Misewicz, chief at Salcha Fire & Rescue, the home was located at 7046 Orchid Drive in Salcha, a community south of Fairbanks near North Pole.
The fire was reported on Feb. 11 at 8:10 a.m., and the fire department arrived roughly 8 minutes after the dispatch call, finding the home fully engulfed in flames.
"Within about 2 minutes after the fire department arrived the house collapsed," Ernie Misewicz said. "Hose lines were deployed to protect nearby buildings and storage from the heat of the fire as well as extinguish the fire."
