A Homer teen was killed in a head-on collision near Anchor Point on Sunday afternoon.
Michael Franklin, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene on July 7 when the vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a pickup truck. The crash resulted in a fire that forced more than 13 emergency responders into action.
According to acting Anchor Point Fire Chief Jon Marsh, emergency responders, along with Alaska State Troopers, were called into action at 4:17 p.m. when a report of a head-on crash had resulted in multiple injuries. A total of 13 firefighters and emergency medical technicians from Anchor Point Emergency Services responded along with a rescue engine, a tanker, two ambulances and multiple command and utility vehicles. Ninilchik Emergency Services also provided a fire engine, two ambulances and nine firefighters and EMTs.
Marsh said emergency crews arrived on the scene to find a two-vehicle collision with one vehicle engulfed in flames.
