A juvenile male has been arrested after Anchorage police say he set a piece of the Turnagain Elementary School's playground equipment on fire. At around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, dispatch took a report of a fire at the school's playground, located at 3500 W Northern Lights Boulevard. Firefighters with the Anchorage Fire Department arrived on the scene, finding that part of a slide and stairs had been melted. Wood was also burned. A preliminary investigation found the male had set a piece of playground equipment on fire before fleeing the area, according to Anchorage Police Department spokesperson MJ Thim. Thim said APD officers found him and took him into custody for questioning, which led to his arrest. Charges were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
