Firefighters from Rural Deltana, City of Delta Junction, and Fort Greely Fire Departments were at the elementary school Tuesday and Wednesday of last week as part of fire prevention week to teach students safe habits to prevent fires. Students also had the opportunity to view firefighting equipment, go through Fort Greely's fire trailer, and put on personal protective equipment worn by firefighters.
National Fire Protection Week is sponsored cooperatively by the National Fire Protection Association and local emergency agencies. Each year local departments provide information to the elementary school. This year's theme for fire protection week is "Plan and Practice Your Escape."
