An eight-year-old died after an all-terrain vehicle flipped on the Eska Mine trail near Sutton, a Sunday Alaska State Troopers dispatch said. On Saturday night, troopers received a report of an ATV rollover collision seven miles up the Eska Mine trail. The initial report indicated the child was ejected from the ATV when it flipped. The child, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, died of their injuries, the dispatch said. Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, LifeMed, Palmer and Butte fire departments responded to the scene. Alcohol is not a suspected factor, the dispatch said. The investigation is ongoing.
