The CARES Program operated by Capital City Fire Rescue plans to expand staffing after nearly two years of existence. Joe Mishler, who heads up the Community Assistance Response and Emergency Services program, said on Action Line that the positions are currently filled with emergency workers. Those positions include one in the sleep off-center and a community paramedic. Mishler said these will be full-time benefited positions. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must possess an emergency trauma technician certificate. Once hired Mishler said they will work with them to achieve an emergency medical technician certificate. He was asked what qualifications applicants must have going in.
