The Monday night fire that engulfed a home on Beacon Hill Drive in the Hillside neighborhood resulted in one of two residents being sent to the hospital, according to James Dennis, a battalion chief with the Anchorage Fire Department. There’s been no word on the status of their injuries. Dennis added that the fire is contained and firefighters remained on the scene of the house fire monitoring hotspots through the night into Tuesday. On Monday, Dennis said firefighters responded to the garage fire around 8:40 p.m., but when they arrived, it had already reached the second floor of the home. Alex Boyd, a training assistant chief with the department, said crews made contact with one resident of the home upon arrival, but did not have further information about whether its occupants were home at the time it started.
