Dothan and other parts of Houston County suffered major damage and some injuries from Hurricane Michael on Wednesday, officials said tonight.
They urged people to stay off the roads Thursday for their own safety and to allow crews to begin a massive cleanup job.
At a press briefing tonight at the Houston County Emergency Management Center, Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba first expressed care and concern for those on the Florida coast who caught the full force of the hurricane but said his city was not spared.
"Here in Dothan, we have experienced an unprecedented catastrophic event," the mayor said.
