City officials are considering a proposal to relocate a Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service station to Greensboro Avenue.
Fire Chief Randy Smith is suggesting that Fire Station 5 be relocated to the former automobile dealership at 3200 Greensboro Ave., which is listed for sale at $2.6 million.
In addition to moving the fire operations there, Smith also recommends establishing the fire department’s fleet maintenance, logistics and administrative offices inside buildings at the Greensboro Avenue site.
Upgrades to this existing building that would be needed to accommodate the fire department’s needs are expected to cost at least another $3 million, officials said.
