A 21-year-old firefighter passed away after suffering a seizure at the fire station while waiting for weather-related calls.
Brenden Pierce worked at Palmerdale fire district in Pinson for three years.
Palmerdale Fire Chief Jason Howell said this is the first line-of-duty death for Palmerdale and the first he has every experienced.
Howell said everyone is in shock, but trying to stay strong fo Pierce's family.
Pierce has been working for Palmderdale fire for three years, but he basically grew up at Palmerdale fire station because his father was the former fire chief.
Howell said on Tuesday, Pierce came in to work to help with the weather-related calls when all of a sudden, he had a brain stroke and was eventually declared brain dead.
