VIDEO: Huntsville Hospital has new equipment to care for children in critical situations. The Kids Care fleet consists of two ambulances outfitted with technology to help children in need, even babies. The second ambulance is a new addition. Both have life-saving equipment on board, which will be vital for rural areas of north Alabama. Both trucks have oxygen, air, and capability to keep babies warm. Kids Care transport coordinator Danielle Armstrong said they are able to offer hypothermic cooling to infants and high-frequency ventilation for patients who fail conventional ventilation. “The truck is outfitted like an ICU on wheels for neonatal and pediatric patients,” she said. The second truck gives the health care system the capability to help multiple children at the same time.
