Springville Fire Chief identifies firefighter who died during training exercise Monday

A Springville firefighter died Monday morning during a recruit or rookie session in Anniston, according to the Fire Chief Richard Harvey. The firefighter has been identified as 35-year-old Jared Echols. At the time of his death, Echols was a student in the Firefighter Bridge Course at Anniston Regional Training Center of Alabama Fire college. Echols was a lifelong Springville resident. He was hired by the City of Springville in January 2019 and worked as a volunteer firefighter at the Pleasant Hill Fire Department since July 2015 prior to his fire in Springville. Echols is survived by his wife and two daughters. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
